Joe here,

Back in Orlando this week writing to you from our Southern HQ.

Today, your biggest enemy isn't a mountain or a 400-pound tire. It’s the glowing rectangle in your hand.

We are living through an epidemic of isolation. Screen time has replaced face time. Convenience has replaced character. It is easier than ever to stay home, order in, and avoid the friction of social engagement. But here is the truth: Laziness thrives in the dark. It drags you away from the world and into a cycle of "safety" that eventually becomes a prison of your own making.

We’ve traded community for "content." We’ve traded the sweat of a group workout for the comfort of an algorithm. Breaking that cycle is the hardest thing you’ll do all year, but it’s the only way to save yourself.

The Year of the Wolf

Enter this year. The year of the Wolf.

A wolf alone can maybe survive, but only a pack can thrive. We are calling 2026 the Year of the Wolf because it’s time to be reflective. Look around. Without a community holding you accountable, you will not survive the challenges life is going to throw at you.

Spartan offers a global community of people who are ready to make tough commitments. We are a pack that prefers a cold trail to a warm couch. Because the feeling of accomplishment far surpasses anything a television screen can offer. When you join us, you aren't just running a race—you are entering a "life training" program. You are surrounding yourself with people who make you better by simply being there.

This year, Spartan and Tough Mudder have merged into one hunting ground. Every mile you run, every wall you climb, and every hand you take to get through the mud is a strike against the isolation that’s trying to hold you back.

Gamify Your Connection: The Hex Era

We don’t want you to race once and disappear back into your house. Consistency is key. We want you to build a season of public accountability.

One race earns you one facet of the Hex Coin. As you collect segments, the coin takes shape. It’s a visual representation of your consistency, but more importantly, it’s a record of the people who stood beside you. When you look at that coin on your desk, you shouldn't see a trophy—you should see the community that pushed you to be more than a person sitting alone in a room.

Choose Your Path

The era of the "Lone Wolf" is just the beginning. Stop drifting and pick a lane:

  1. Lone Wolf (1–2 Races): You’re breaking out of isolation. You’re finding your legs.

  2. Pack Runner (3–4 Races): You’ve committed to the Trifecta. You’ve found your tribe.

  3. Alpha (5+ Races): You are leading the charge, bringing others out of the dark and onto the trail.

The Commitment Challenge

In the next 24 hours, break the isolation:

  1. Pick your path. Don't think. Decide.

  2. Register. Put a concrete date on the calendar.

  3. Call someone. Don't just text. Call a friend, a brother, or a coworker. Tell them you’re racing and tell them they’re coming with you.

The pack is waiting. Don't be the one left behind in the dark.

You Ask, Joe Answers

Q: “How does Spartan 'train you for life' better than a regular gym?" — Sarah J.

A: "A gym is a controlled environment. The temperature is set to 68 degrees, the floor is flat, and the weights don't move. Life isn't like that. Life is raining when you have a flat tire. Life is a 12-hour workday followed by a sick kid. Spartan is 'Life Training' because it introduces chaos on purpose. When you learn to handle a 40-pound sandbag in the mud while you’re exhausted, a stressful meeting at the office feels like a walk in the park. We build resilience, not just muscle." — Joe

I’ll see you on the course,
