The Trifecta is the ultimate annual Spartan challenge. Racers who complete a Sprint (or Stadion), Super, and Beast (or Ultra) in any order within one calendar year receive three magnetic wedges that clip together to form the elusive Trifecta medal — not to mention bragging rights to last a lifetime.

The Spartan Trifecta Weekends in 2022
Montana Spartan Trifecta Weekend — Bigfork, MT (May 7-8)
The very first Trifecta weekend of 2022 will take your breath away in more ways than one. You’ll race directly on the shores of Montana’s largest freshwater lake, Flathead Lake, complete with some of the toughest and most rewarding climbs the state has to offer. With race options from Sprint to Ultra, this is the ideal event for racers to experience the unforgettable and expansive views and terrain of Glacier National Park. But beginners beware: This is the eighth most difficult race on the U.S. schedule.
Big Bear Spartan Trifecta Weekend — Big Bear Lake, CA (May 14-15)
Yet another one of our hardest races available — this one clocking in at No. 2 — any Big Bear race distance that you choose will sending you skyrocketing up and down unrelenting hills, which can reach as high as 8,200 feet and include plummets of 1,200 feet. If you're brave enough to take on this weekend, your calves will never forget it, and your heart will never forget the picturesque, panoramic landscape views of towering trees, pristine waters, and fellow Spartans crushing the course on the mountains below you.
Fayetteville Spartan Trifecta Weekend — Spring Lake, NC (May 14-15)
2021 was our first Trifecta weekend in North Carolina, and there’s a reason we’re returning to Fayetteville with even more races this season: The Spartan staff voted this location their favorite of any U.S. race. The venue, McCormick Farms, is family-owned, but don't let that fool you. This 1,000-acre farm is no joke.
While Big Bear unfolds on the West Coast, East Coast Spartans can put all of that Trifecta training to use on this weekend’s dense forests, 200-foot deep quarry, rolling hills, and steep, mud-soaked riverbanks. It’ll be a hell of a climb, but will leave you with a sense of euphoria you’ve never before experienced.
Ohio Spartan Trifecta Weekend — TBD, OH (June 18-19)
Last year, we hosted our first-ever Trifecta weekend in Ohio, featuring all of the technical terrain of Southington Off-Road Park. We sent racers winding through 1,500 acres of thick forest on Jeep trails — and you know what that means: miles of mud, steep hill climbs, sand, and rock gardens.
We're returning to the Buckeye State in 2022. While the venue for this year's Ohio Trifecta Weekend is still being locked down, expect more mud, technicality, and intense climbs than you can imagine. Stay tuned for more details.
Utah Spartan Trifecta Weekend — Mount Ogden, UT (July 9-10)
This course at Mount Ogden hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002, making it a worthy challenge for any Spartan. The 3,000-foot climb to the course’s summit makes this another one of the toughest Trifecta weekends on the calendar, but the view from the top makes the trek’s effort more than worth it.
Huntsville — a world-class ski town with a deep-rooted history and a passion for community — is the perfect place for Spartans to expand their existing sense of camaraderie. Racers can take in the Blues, Brews & BBQ concert series on Sunday to relax in the shade, grab a drink, and reflect on a race well run. And this weekend also features a Kids Race, so make sure to bring the entire Spartan family.
Seattle North Spartan Trifecta Weekend — TBD, WA (Aug. 13-14)
On over 300 acres of lush, abundant greenery and situated directly within the convergence of the Snohomish, Snoqualmie and Skykomish Rivers, these races are heaven on earth, and we’re ready to give them some hell.
Chase your Trifecta title through the sparkling waters of the Puget Sound and the treacherous, snow-capped Cascade Mountains. With the fresh Pacific Northwest air in your lungs, the intense feeling of freedom will be unshakeable.
Hawaii Spartan Trifecta Weekend — Kane‘ohe, HI (Aug. 20-21)
Hollywood’s “Hawaii Backlot” — named for having been the site of over 60 Hollywood films, television shows, concerts, and music videos since 1955, including Jurassic World (2015) — nearly sells itself. And if traversing the same terrain as Colin Trevorrow’s Indominus rex doesn’t quite convince you that barreling through the lush jungles of Kualoa Ranch — just steps from white-sand beaches — is the ultimate bucket list race-cation, we’ve got you covered.
Racers will have unlimited opportunities to experience authentic Hawaiian culture and connect with fellow Spartans at the Friday night luau, and in our partner hotels’ exclusive Spartan Race Lounge. And when you’re done crushing obstacles and logging unforgettable miles, one of the world’s most famous beaches, Waikiki Beach — once occupied by Hawaiian royalty — is just blocks away. Take the whole family (Yes, there’s even a Kids Race this weekend!) for a 20-minute drive to Honolulu for the rich history, the city’s most popular state park, zoos, snorkeling, and demanding hikes with panoramic views. And right in your backyard, the ranch offers tons of incredible tour options, from the Jurassic Adventure Tour to zip lining above jungle canopies to shredding ATVs through the tropical forest.
West Virginia Spartan Trifecta Event Weekend — TBD, WV (Aug. 27-28)
This weekend is designed to test your grit. With seemingly infinite miles of rolling West Virginia hills and steep inclines, the technical terrain — and deep swims —will build physical and mental strength and provide you with a high that is only fit for the oldest mountain range in the world, the Appalachian Mountains. As you traverse a massive suspension bridge, don't forget to check out the water below, fit for some of the most epic white-water rafting in the state.
Nearby, you'll find six different High Adventure Experience packages, offering epic group trips including kayaking and rafting, rugged ATV river rides, 50+ mile “bikepacking,” shooting sports, and history-infused hiking to get even more down and dirty and hone further in on your Spartan character and leadership.
Tri-State New Jersey Spartan Trifecta Weekend — Vernon, NJ (Oct. 1-2)
This race is not for the weak of heart (or lungs or legs). Welcome to Mountain Creek at Vernon Peak, New Jersey's largest ski mountain and the site of a race crafted to push you past your breaking point and skyrocket you (nearly literally) into the stratosphere. (That's also what makes it our fifth hardest U.S. race.)
This weekend boasts the highest elevation gains in both the Sprint (1,730 feet) and Super (2,744 feet) race categories, sending you shooting up and down rocky, steep slopes with absolutely stunning views. And although the ski season at Mountain Creek doesn’t open until December, the mountain hosts an array of other badass, Spartan-worthy activities and events, including zip lining above Mountaintop Lake, cruising down the Alpine Mountain Coaster, 10 unique treetop rope courses, mountain biking, hiking, and so much more.
SoCal Spartan Trifecta Weekend — TBD, CA (Oct. 22-23)
Don't let the typical sunny Southern California vibe fool you, even seasoned Spartans will be tested to their limit at this late October race weekend in the Golden State. We're venturing out into some of California's most rugged, untouched land, where Spartans will barrel beneath the most breathtaking oak trees over rolling hills, climb some incredibly steep and mountainous ascents, and plunge through densely-wooded, cascading valleys.
Trust us, the once-in-a-lifetime views are enough to drown out the pain of pushing through to the finish.
Arizona Spartan Trifecta Weekend — Avondale, AZ (Nov. 19-20)
Just 30 minutes from downtown Phoenix, the Phoenix Raceway typically hosts NASCAR races. But come November 2022, an incredibly fast Spartan race course will unfold across the Raceway's massive low-banked track and trails that weave and venture through surrounding wildlife areas for the first time ever.
Between the Gila River and Estrella Mountain Regional Park, this course has minimal elevation gain, low altitude, hard-packed, untechnical, dirt road trails, and temperatures expected in the 50s and 60s. First-time Spartans and veterans alike will find themselves flying through these races in the Arizona sun.
Central Florida Spartan Trifecta Event Weekend — TBD, FL (Dec. 10-11)
Central Florida might be flat, but don't let that fool you. For the final Trifecta weekend of 2022, we'll be bringing you some very technical running trails to keep you on your toes as you sightsee on foot through the wonderfully-soggy Florida wetland areas.
In 2021 — for the first time since Spartan’s acquisition of Tough Mudder — the two brands merged in Central Florida for one of our most epic events yet. Not only did the festival feature separate zones and races for Spartan and TM, but the course served up another wildcard in exchange for the lack of elevation gain: one of our most taxing water features ever, the multi-mile swamp trek.
Located between Sebring and Lake Placid (and just a few hours from both Orlando and Miami) this mild-weathered, centrally-located race is perfect for seasoned Spartans and beginners alike.
