The Spartan Trifecta Weekends in 2023
March 18-19, 2023
Atlanta Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Conyers, GA
The Georgia International Horse Park was home to the 1996 Olympic Equestrian events. Rolling hills and deep southern woods will keep you guessing as you race through Georgian red clay, slippery mud pits, water crossings, and other technical, taxing terrain. The longer Trifecta-qualifying distances will even run through the Olympic rings that were built on location.
May 6-7, 2023
Montana Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Bigfork, MT
This Trifecta weekend will take your breath away in more ways than one. You’ll race directly on the shores of Montana’s largest freshwater lake, Flathead Lake, complete with some of the toughest and most rewarding climbs the state has to offer. With race options from Sprint to Ultra, this is the ideal event for racers to experience the unforgettable and expansive views and terrain of Glacier National Park. But beginners beware: This is the eighth most difficult race on the U.S. schedule.
May 13-14, 2023
Fayetteville Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Spring Lake, NC
Our first Trifecta weekend in North Carolina was in 2021, and there’s a reason we’ve continued to return to Fayetteville with even more races year after year: The Spartan staff voted this location their favorite of any U.S. race. The venue, McCormick Farms, is family-owned, but don't let that fool you. This 1,000-acre farm is no joke.
While Montana unfolds closer to the West Coast, East Coast Spartans can put all of that Trifecta training to use on this weekend’s dense forests, 200-foot deep quarry, rolling hills, and steep, mud-soaked riverbanks. It’ll be a hell of a climb, but will leave you with a sense of euphoria you’ve never before experienced.
May 20-21, 2023
Big Bear Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Big Bear Lake, CA
Yet another one of our hardest races available — this one clocking in at No. 2 — any Big Bear race distance that you choose will send you skyrocketing up and down unrelenting hills, which can reach as high as 8,200 feet and include plummets of 1,200 feet. If you're brave enough to take on this weekend, your calves will never forget it, and your heart will never forget the picturesque, panoramic landscape views of towering trees, pristine waters, and fellow Spartans crushing the course on the mountains below you.
June 10-11, 2023
Cincinnati Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Lawrenceburg, IN
After a short time apart, we're stoked to be back at Perfect North Slopes for a fourth time. Just thirty minutes outside of Cincinnati, this ski resort will challenge racers with a nice mixture of hills, flat field running, and some water and mud to add that extra layer of difficulty. Expect this to be a fast, yet challenging Trifecta weekend, and don't forget to bring your kids.
Come race up steep climbs, rugged trails, and experience our patented muscle-burning obstacles, which are all set to give your body and mind a rigorous test. This is where citizens become soldiers, where the brutal terrain and elevation zaps lungs, and where you can take on the challenge of conquering this gritty, relentless Coloradan course.
July 8-9, 2023
Utah Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Huntsville, UT
This course at Mount Ogden hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002, making it a worthy challenge for any Spartan. The 3,000-foot climb to the course’s summit makes this another one of the toughest Trifecta weekends on the calendar, but the view from the top makes the trek’s effort more than worth it.
Huntsville — a world-class ski town with a deep-rooted history and a passion for community — is the perfect place for Spartans to expand their existing sense of camaraderie. Racers can take in the Blues, Brews & BBQ concert series on Sunday to relax in the shade, grab a drink, and reflect on a race well run. And this weekend also features a Kids Race, so make sure to bring the entire Spartan family.
Aug. 26-27, 2023
West Virginia Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Glen Jean, WV
This weekend is designed to test your grit. With seemingly infinite miles of rolling West Virginia hills and steep inclines, the technical terrain — and deep swims — of Summit Bechtel Reserve will build physical and mental strength and provide you with a high that is only fit for the oldest mountain range in the world, the Appalachian Mountains. As you traverse a massive suspension bridge, don't forget to check out the water below, teeming with some of the most epic white-water rafting waves in the state.
Managed by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the reserve is a training, scouting, and adventure center that takes Scouts — and Spartans — to their limits and beyond. Six different High Adventure Experience packages offer epic group trips on-site, including kayaking and rafting, rugged ATV river rides, 50+ mile “bikepacking,” shooting sports, and history-infused hiking to get even more down and dirty and hone further in on your Spartan character and leadership.
San Jose Spartan Trifecta Event Weekend - Paicines, CA
Under the warm glow of the California sun, Spartans will come together to brave heat and hills on this course's expansive range of wooded trails and wide-open spaces. Take a complete escape from the madness of modern life and challenge yourself in this Bay Area obstacle course race retreat.
Sept. 16-17, 2023
Seattle North Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Snohomish, WA
On over 300 acres of lush, abundant greenery and situated directly within the convergence of the Snohomish, Snoqualmie, and Skykomish Rivers, these races are heaven on earth, and we’re ready to give them some hell.
Chase your Trifecta title through the sparkling waters of the Puget Sound and the treacherous, snow-capped Cascade Mountains. With the fresh Pacific Northwest air in your lungs, the intense feeling of freedom will be unshakeable.
Sept. 30-Oct. 1, 2023
Tri-State New Jersey Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Vernon, NJ
This race is not for the weak of heart (or lungs or legs). Welcome to Mountain Creek at Vernon Peak, New Jersey's largest ski mountain and the site of a race crafted to push you past your breaking point and skyrocket you (nearly literally) into the stratosphere. (That's also what makes it our fifth hardest U.S. race.)
This weekend boasts the highest elevation gains in both the Sprint (1,730 feet) and Super (2,744 feet) race categories, sending you shooting up and down rocky, steep slopes with absolutely stunning views. And although the ski season at Mountain Creek doesn’t open until December, the mountain hosts an array of other badass, Spartan-worthy activities and events, including zip lining above Mountaintop Lake, cruising down the Alpine Mountain Coaster, 10 unique treetop rope courses, mountain biking, hiking, and so much more.
Oct. 21-22, 2023
Dallas Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Granbury, TX
Test your strength, stamina and grit at Twin Canyons Ranch. Still a fairly new venue for Spartan, this course includes rugged terrain that will challenge you, no matter your fitness level. Just about one hour outside of the Dallas Ft. Worth area and just 30 minutes to the historic center of Granbury, this race destination promises to pack action and southern hospitality.
Nov. 4-5, 2023
San Luis Obispo Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Santa Margarita, CA
San Luis Obispo County offers sunny days and star-studded nights, which await you at Santa Margarita Ranch, one of the largest operating vineyards in an area known for its wine production. Dash through the rows of growing grapevines during bud break and across epic open landscapes, surrounded by the towering Los Padres National Forest.
On the course, you'll take in views of wildlife and a fossilized oyster bed. This is one of our faster Ultras, and a perfect destination for first-time racers to take on the 50K challenge.
Nov. 18-19, 2023
Phoenix Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Avondale, AZ
Just 30 minutes from downtown Phoenix, the Phoenix Raceway typically hosts NASCAR races. But come November 2022, an incredibly fast Spartan race course will unfold across the Raceway's massive low-banked track and trails that weave and venture through surrounding wildlife areas for the first time ever.
Between the Gila River and Estrella Mountain Regional Park, this course has minimal elevation gain, low altitude, hard-packed, untechnical, dirt road trails, and temperatures expected in the 50s and 60s. First-time Spartans and veterans alike will find themselves flying through these races in the Arizona sun.
Dec. 2-3, 2023
Central Florida Spartan Trifecta Weekend - Sebring, FL
Get ready for a weekend of fun, fast races at Skipper Ranch. This course is on an operating cow farm, so expect flat farmland, nice trails, and a lot of marshy mud. If you're lucky, you might even spot a bald eagle nest. Located between Sebring and Lake Placid, and just a couple hours from Orlando and Miami, this centrally located race is a great for anyone looking to complete a Trifecta in the Sunshine State.
