How to Navigate Mid-Race Rough Patches on the Trail

Michael Wardian, a professional marathon and ultramarathon racer, ran seven marathons on seven continents in seven days back in 2017, and has also completed some of the most difficult races in the world, including the Badwater Ultramarathon.

On this episode of the Spartan Up! podcast's Trail series, the 46-year-old shares his expertise on overcoming the rough patches in races, particularly when those rough patches are related to nutrition and diet. He shares a few stories about his toughest moments — including one during Olympic trials — and also divulges some of the personal techniques he uses for hydration on the trail.
