  • Why movement beats medication
  • How Spartans are redefining aging through grit

Joe De Sena writing from Austin, TX this week, where I’m a guest speaker at Dave Asprey’s Biohacking Conference. The theme is Live Beyond 180.

I told the crowd this: You want to talk about biohacks? I’ve got one. One that’s free, ancient, and undefeated. It’s called discomfort. You won’t need a PhD to understand this shxx and experience its incredible effects either:

  • Heavy carries
  • Long miles
  • Cold water
  • Salad
  • Daily controlled suffering

You don’t need pills or a device to activate your body’s innate superpowers, you need to apply the above forms of resistance. You need pain with purpose.

Don’t mistake that this is just about physical endurance, it’s actually a nervous system reset. Studies have shown that this drives a sort of “mental cleansing” which in turn is the ultimate hormone regulator.

You want more energy, less inflammation, lower body fat, more strength, stronger cells, and clearer focus? Do hard things. DAILY.

Everyone in that room wants to live to 180. But I want them to realize there’s no magic pill. They are gonna have to earn it with iron discipline. And I told them exactly that.

“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”
- Joseph Campbell

You Ask, Joe Answers

Q: “Joe, what’s your daily non-negotiable for long-term health?” — Eliza W.
A: "Every morning, I wake up around 4:45 a.m., drink a few glasses of water, and dive into my 15 daily exercises, at least 50 reps each. This routine keeps me injury-free, flexible, and mobile. Purposeful suffering builds resistance and something we call obstacle immunity, so when things get really tough, you won’t quit when it really counts." — Joe

So if you’re ready to get serious, join us. The Spartan Run Club isn’t a hobby jog, it’s a metabolic furnace.
