What a weird time to be celebrating Global Running Day. Or is it? Running has brought me this platform, and the ability to to live my [running] life out loud, in my big black female body. I celebrate the opportunity to leave a mark, a legacy, or even to make a small ripple—but of what? Of acknowledgment, acceptance, of how when you extend yourself to others, you create that space in them to do the same, of how when you make the effort to set aside any preconceived notions about a person’s identity, and make no mistake, I’m talking about race, you might learn a bit more about yourself, them, and well, the world around you. So happy Global Running Day to you! I hope that you see the running community as yet another way to extend yourself, to be loved on and to give love back. (A note about this picture: This is day three @transrockiesrun_official]. @houda44 asked me to get up MAD EARLY and lead an early start for those runners who needed it so they would be able to finish the long and grueling 23 miles of this stage within the cutoff. I had pulled out of Stage 1 because of bum achilles and severe fatigue, and so I got to volunteer, do some of the course, and help my fellow TRR family to their own personal finishes in a small way. Begs the question, what small action can you take to make the world a little bit more equitable? #transrockiesrun #trailrunning #globalrunningday #running #blacklivesmatter #runnersofinstagram

Yeah that’s actually @myhomiemoxie barking in the beginning of the video, not intentional just good timing haha. When I first started training again after baby, I focused more on full body workouts & core. Now at 8 months postpartum I’m starting to add in working on areas that need a little more attention. I still pretty much do a full body workout every training, but tweaking things with a slight focus each workout depending on what I see/feel needs more work. I’ve been focusing a bit more on glutes 2 workouts a week, because they got very weak during pregnancy & the first few months postpartum. That’s the fun part about fitness to me, paying attention to your own body adding things in as needed. This way you figure out what works for which is just as important as what doesn’t work for you! 💪🏼😉 #doyourhomework workout fueled by @sixstarpronutrition preworkout 💥 #8monthspostpartum

There has to be a point where you say to yourself... "the have to's, I got to's, I will do, and I did it". What will it take for you to reach each of those in your journey? Something always drives us, pushes us, motivates us, and shakes us to get to that point. What is yours? Photo then was just the beginning for me... I had no clue I would get to the photo today. All I knew was that I was not going to give up on myself as I have done so much in the past. In order to be a success in this kind of journey you have got to enjoy the ENTIRE journey... the good, the bad, the fears, the scale going up and down, the clothes fitting, the non-scale victories, the days where you don't want to, the days you test the waters and binge, the days of sickness and days of health... I could go on and on... ya'll feel me? Strive for it. Aim for it. Work for it. You got this. 💪Always a #workinprogress You got this!! #fittheaven #mevsme #tbt #mondaymotivation #inspiration #beforeandafter #thisisme #wls #weightlossmotivation #grind #workhardplayhard #dontbelievemejustwatch #journey #fitnessmotivation #goals #determination #latina #excessskin #extremeweightloss #dontgiveup #keepgoing #pushyourself #transformation #transformationtuesday #success #influencer #goaldigger #strongwomen #whateverittakes

12. Maggie Cvetkovic

FOLLOW: @maggie_spartan_pro

Spartan Pro Maggie Cvetkovic reps Switzerland in OCR and currently lives in Singapore. She travels all around the world to compete in Spartan Races, and even though an MCL injury set her back a couple of months, she is tough as nails. After getting sick of sitting on the sidelines doing knee rehab, she made a snap decision to race a Beast (no hydration pack, no compression socks, no breakfast) and crushed it anyways. Talk about inspiration in action.

View this post on Instagram

2 month ago I’ve torn my MCL (grade 2) and wasn’t able to run ever since. I was supposed to be a spectator today, watching my BF @racerdavis run the Beast, cheer and take photos. After having sat out a bunch of races over the past 2 month I got a bit feed up and made a last minute decision this morning to race the Beast anyways. My plan was to gently jog around the course at a slow pace but that didn’t last for long. Half way into the Beast I was leading the race. My knee was fine. Good to know that I still have it in me after being lazy for 2 month and rocking up to the race completely unprepared. No breakfast, no nutrition, no hydration pack, no compression socks.... that was probably a bit stupid but it worked. Congratulations to my BF Chris who came 4th in the men’s elite. ❤️ There are huge racial disparities when it comes to lifestyle-related healthy diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. . As I’m thinking about how I can be a better ally—The health field is the obvious area where our company has the most impact. Last week, our entire team at @thebossbodyrevolution sat down to discuss concrete actions steps we commit to taking to make our community more inclusive to black women. In this video I share the three things we commit to doing and sustaining long-term to create a more inclusive community. . When it comes to health, Black communities face HUGE disparities in food availability, quality, and access to healthy food, which plays a major role in health outcomes. I’d also like to link a few organizations that support African-American health. Consider donating to these organizations that are helping support Black communities: . 🖤 The Center for African American Health: A Family Resource Center dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of infants, seniors, and everyone in between by providing culturally-sensitive health education and health promotion programs. Visit them here: https://caahealth.org . 🖤 Black Womens Health Alliance: They provide evidence-based programs for women and families that focus on physical, mental, and spiritual health and the associated social determinants of health. @bwhaorg . 🖤 Center for Black Women’s Wellness: CBWW is a non-profit organization that provides free and low-cost services to empower black women, and their families, toward physical, mental and economic wellness. www.cbww.org . I’m sharing our commitments as a company in this video so that you can know what we’re thinking, but also hold us accountable! If you don’t see us taking action, call us out. A word on this transition- stepping forward from downward facing dog to a lunge pose is hard as fuck. It took years for this transition to feel normal in my body. If you are currently falling flat on your face instead of stepping smoothly into downdog, know that I am right there with you because this shit is hard and you are allowed to fall down. Falling down doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you, it makes you a fearless bad bitch. I go into way more detail about this in the air track classes on @theunderbellyyoga so I’m not gonna beat a dead horse here- if you wanna begin or continue your yoga journey, try our free trial and get your life. But right now I’m way less concerned with “teaching yoga” and more just desperate to express how much I identify with anyone who finds it hard to practice this transition. This is hands down one of the most common questions y’all ask. Falling on your face in yoga is just like falling on your face in life. And honestly life is just a series of banana slips on repeat and all that ever happens is we get better at finding a smile when our ass hits the ground. Also shout out to my @theunderbellyyoga team for curating these clips and celebrating the fuck out of the air track this week. Mad love to all of you who are out there slaying your journey and learning how to breathe and be with yourself. I honor you, I love you, I am grateful for you. #ubyoga #everybodyyoga All of @theunderbellyyoga classes are shot & cut by my loves at @bigdoglittlebedproductions

Ima try to keep it short but y'all, I'm FINALLY launching my podcast @thefirstpod 🙌🏽 It's taken almost a year to execute because of doubt, fear, having surgery, and a lot of other excuses but I did it! I've been challenging myself to act on my ideas and to create the content I want instead of complaining and waiting for someone else to do it. The First is a platform where athletes can be their authentic selves, own their narratives, and share their stories with the world. And it's all about connecting with one another through sport. Season 1 will be live this Sunday, February 16th at 2 pm ET, and new episodes will drop every Sunday at 2 pm ET. Thank you @rozalynnfrazier for holding me accountable and always asking for updates. Thank you @priscuitngravy for bringing my graphic vision/artwork to life and for answering all my late-night texts about photoshop. Thank you @sierratall for giving me editing advice. Thank you @suddsuddsudd for always checking in, in general, and for the beat. Thank you Ryan @listeningpartypresents for giving me a place to record when I need it. I'm feeling all the feels right now — nervous, anxious, excited, stressed — so check it out when it drops and let me know what you think.
