Whether you’re a speed and power fiend who thrives in fast and heavy scenarios, an endurance jockey who enjoys the physical and mental pain of going the distance, or somewhere in between, Spartan, DEKA, and Tough Mudder World Championships have something for everyone. The roads to each event’s finish line do look quite different, though. To conquer, say, World’s Toughest Mudder and the DEKA World Championship, you’ll probably need two unique training plans. (But feel free to take that as a challenge; we’d love to see it.)
And remember – our World Championships are for everyone. While elite athletes must qualify, Age Group competitors don’t have to, and Open racers are welcome to test themselves without meeting a benchmark time, too. Every participant gets to experience the international atmosphere and community that makes these events unique. Plus, you’ll even earn some hardware that you won’t see anywhere else.
To help you reach the starting line and power through to the finish at each of our world-championship caliber events this year, here are the physical and mental qualities that our experts think are essential to have in your training arsenal for each championship type.
