What IS Tea, Exactly?
All true tea comes from a single plant: Camellia sinensis. Whether the tea is white, green, or black, it all comes from the same plant. The different types relate to how the tea is processed.
Spartan Organic Herbal Tea is unique in that it comes from an herb called "sideritis" — a Greek word meaning "he who has the iron" — which is found in higher elevations of Greece and the Balkans (Croatia, Montenegro, and Serbia, for example). This herbal tea, or tisane — the term used for any plant other than the Camellia sinensis tea plant — is made from the dried flowers, leaves, and stems of the "sideritis" (aka ironwort) plant. It has been consumed since antiquity. Even Hippocrates himself drank this herbal tea, or tisane, for health effects. It was consumed by ancient warriors who were wounded in battle, and was known as a staple brew for shepherds guarding their flocks.
It’s been used in folklore medicine for centuries, and for good reason.
What Does Spartan Tea Do for You?
Spartan Organic Herbal Tea is primarily noted for its use as a digestive aid. It also has plenty of antioxidant activity related to its flavonoid content and has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help the GI tract and have a calming effect on the body. It's also great for the respiratory tract, again because of those anti-inflammatory properties.
Spartan Tea Is Caffeine-Free
Spartan Organic Herbal Tea is caffeine-free, so it won’t impact those of you who are caffeine sensitive, and it can be consumed near or before bedtime. So brew a cup, sit back, and know that you're drinking a time-honored, healthy herb that dates back to ancient Greece.
Spartan Organic Herbal Tea is brewed by boiling the herbs in a pot, in order to extract full flavor and all of the health benefits it offers. A true Spartan would never use a tea bag. It tastes great either hot or cold, and is perfect with a little honey added. Each pouch contains 75 grams of tea.
