I had the pleasure of running the Palmerton sprint this past weekend with this bad boy. Few things I really enjoy are:
1️⃣ - it's lightweight 👌
2️⃣ - while it's lightweight it has the taller heal cup to really give my ankles the support they need 🪶
3️⃣ - the drainage is second to none! No more drilling holes in the soles of my shoes 😂
4️⃣ - they stay locked on my feet! These shoes gripped to my heel and won't be pulling off in the mud. 🔒
5️⃣ - they are fast drying and clean up super easy to stay looking FRESH. 💅
6️⃣ - stiff durable sole for bombing down rocky terrain. 💪
Overall a great shoe that delt with the rocky terrain in Palmerton like a beast. I can tell the materials used were carefully considered and much thought for the OCR minded athlete were put into these.
These are our go to OCR shoe for 2021. We’ve run in them now collectively over 5 races. They are great in the mud and offer incredible drainage. The drainage aspect is important because our feet have been submerged in every race. Water shoots out of the drainage holes with each step on dry land. That saves a lot on weight. The grip is excellent, and there is more padding underfoot than we’ve experienced in previous models. The laces are wider an nice and flat so they don’t apply undue pressure on top of the foot, and their attachment points are lower on the bottom of the shoe so they really lock your foot inside. This is great for deep mud (such as experienced at Bethel, NY), and allowed us to keep our shoes on while others had theirs suctioned right off their feet! So to reiterate: solid grip, great drainage, more padding and shock absorption than before, excellent non-mechanical lacing system. Highly recommended. AROO!
I've exclusively raced in minimalist style shoes for 7 years...not anymore! On my 11 mile mountain run in these I felt like I was running on clouds that had spikes under em. Pounding downhill at high speeds takes confidence and skill, but these shoes ADD confidence to every foot strike because you know two things:
1. Every impact is DRASTICALLY more gentle
2. The aggressive traction will grip and hold exactly where you plant your foot.
Only reason it's not a 5-star is because they are a bit heavier than you'd expect for a speed shoe, and the laces are held by straps instead of looped through the shoe, which in my experience has lead to ripping.
The grip is excellent for obstacle racing as the tread has "teeth" on the midsole for gripping the rope as you climb it.
Psyched to race in these at the Utah race!
