Washington DC Sprint Weekend

Make your way to Maryland International Raceway as you prepare to sprint in our nation’s capital. This is a venue that is usually reserved for race cars, but will be replaced by machines much more powerful: Spartans. This seasonal drag strip has a capacity of 12,500 and is known for its car races and shows. With terrain usually primed for tires, prepare for some tough conditions. There will be hills (including track jumps) and lots of mud. Take this advice: get in some hill workouts before taking on this course -- your legs will thank you. Form a team and come dominate this 3+ mile Spartan Sprint. TOP REASONS TO TAKE ON THIS COURSE: 1. Embrace the man vs. machine mentality. Be tougher than the machines that typically occupy this raceway -- Spartan Up! and prove yourself. 2. Looking for something to do before or after your race? Head over to Forrest Hall Farm & Orchard. This experienced farm offers locally grown apples, corn, strawberries, and USDA Natural Beef -- there could not be a better way to refuel after your race than these wholesome ingredients. 3. For the Spartan winos out there, there is a winery that is just a 15 minute drive from the venue. The Port of Leonardtown Winery is just a few years old but doing big things -- including producing award-winning wines. Head over there after your race and enjoy a glass (or two). You will have earned it. 4. Myrtle Point Beach and Elms Beach are right nearby. Pack a picnic of protein bars and whole grains and fuel up before your race with the Patuxent River as your backdrop. 5. Looking for something to keep the kids entertained? Head to Southern Maryland’s Largest Corn Maze: A Maze N Place/Bowles Farms. Make memories as you get lost with the family. 6. Of course you will have to visit the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and countless other historical sites while you're in the area.

Washington DC Sprint

The Sprint may be our shortest distance race, but it’s still a favorite amongst both new and returning racers. It’s the perfect distance for those looking to start their Spartan journey. The Sprint also allows returning racers a manageable distance to see how far they fan push themselves. Delivering 20-23 obstacles over 3-5 miles, you'll never run the same race twice. Once you complete the sprint you are 1/3 on your Spartan TRIFECTA: The ultimate Spartan achievement.

BUILD A TEAM: STRENGTH COMES IN NUMBERS.

Callout your friends, co-workers and loved ones to get off the couch and into the mud.

Whether they’re helping you over the wall or chasing you up the mountain, make sure they’re with you at the starting line.

Teams can be any size but must have at least 4 members to be included in the team rankings.

TEAM REGISTRATION

The best way to ensure that you are starting at the exact same start time as your friends is to create a Team during registration (or have your friends Join your team!).

Any racers that are registered as part of a team, on the SAME DAY in the SAME TIME BLOCK (Elite vs. Competitive vs. Morning vs. Afternoon), will be moved to the common team start time in each block when start times are assigned (about 10 days prior to the event). Racers that are registered for Sunday will not be moved to Saturday with a team, or vice versa.

Team times are NOT determined by the captains start time. Team members will be grouped together within each block (Elite, Competitive, Morning OR Afternoon), based on the preferred time that the majority of team members in that block choose.

Racers that are registered for Elite or Morning start times will NOT be grouped with racers in the Afternoon start times or vice versa.

Getting all your friends registered and lined up together on race day can be tricky. Avoid any confusion by checking out: 2017: Team Registration and Start Times.

SPECTATORS: BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. (YOUR BIGGEST FANS)

Bring your friends and family to the race to watch you conquer obstacles, dominate the finish line and receive your medal!

Racers, your fans will motivate you over the wall and past the finish line. You wouldn’t believe how far a cheering section will go when you’re exhausted. Your fans will also enjoy music, raffles, entertainment, and festival challenges.

Most importantly, fans will receive a front row seat to watch racers from a safe, comfortable, and relatively mud-less (no promises) Spartan Race festival ground area! And, when it’s over, they receive muddy hugs from thrilled Spartan athletes. After all, what’s a sport without fans?

Cost: $20 Online until Friday prior to the Event. $25 on site (Cash Only).

As a Spartan Race spectator, you’ll get: $5 Spartan bucks redeemable at the merchandise tent, a festival map, access to view multiple key obstacles on the course, finish line viewing, the vendor tents, and hot food for sale on the grounds!
